Delrey School Closes After 55 Years

After 55 years of serving children with disabilities, Unified Community Connections closed Delrey School at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Please know that all of our students have been placed in new settings where they will thrive. Delrey School opened in 1964 to provide educational services to the underserved population of children with disabilities who were denied access to education in public schools. In many ways, Delrey’s closure is bittersweet, as it is the result of declining enrollment due to public schools developing special education programs and services to educate children with disabilities.

We express our heartfelt appreciation to all of the wonderful teachers and staff who served at Delrey over the years and gave so much to our children, helping them to live successful and independent lives. A special “thank you” goes out to all of the families who put their faith in us. We will forever be grateful to you, and last but certainly not least, we are especially proud of our graduates, who have gone on to make a positive difference in the world.

Unified is continuing its work to support individuals with disabilities, helping them to achieve independence, productivity and the quality of life they seek through our day programs, residential homes and No Boundaries Assistive Technology Center that serve both adults and children.
